Layout before purchases
Plan the room, then fill it.
If the layout and the lighting are wrong, better furniture just makes an expensive version of the same room.
Space planning decides whether a room works. Where people walk, where the light falls, where things get put down — get that right and modest furniture looks considered.
Lighting is the most commonly skipped layer. One ceiling fixture flattens everything; a few layers at different heights change a room more than any single purchase.
Furnishing comes last and to a written specification, with lead times checked before orders go in. That ordering is where most self-managed projects fall apart.
